Shipping & Delivery
Understanding The Can Man Delivery Logistics
The Can Man provides a specialised mobile beverage supply service designed to meet the high demands of worksites, workshops, and commercial locations across South East Queensland and the rest of Australia. At its core, the business operates on a dual delivery model. For local customers within a 350km radius of the Brisbane CBD, The Can Man manages a dedicated cold chain logistics network using a custom delivery vehicle known as the Shark. This ensures that beverages are maintained at optimal temperatures from the cold room to the point of delivery. For customers located outside this local zone, the business utilises national courier partners to move stock across the country. The goal of this system is to remove the logistical burden from site managers and buyers, ensuring that inventory is replenished without the need for a servo run.
Who The Can Man Serves
The delivery service is built specifically for the people who keep the country running. This includes site managers overseeing large construction projects, workshop foremen managing busy teams, and individual tradespeople who want their favourite drinks at the best possible price. The Can Man also services corporate offices, event organisers, and domestic customers who value the convenience of having slabs of energy drinks or imported sodas delivered to their door. Whether you are ordering a single slab for a home fridge or a bulk shipment for a tier one construction site, the delivery process is scaled to fit. The business focuses on professional environments where reliability is more important than a low cost courier who might leave a warm box in the sun.
How the Order Process Works
When an order is placed through the Shopify store, it triggers a specific set of actions based on your location and the time of day. The Can Man prioritises morning orders to ensure the fastest possible turnaround for local crews. Once the order is confirmed, the stock is pulled from the cold room. For local deliveries, the items are moved directly into insulated containers within the delivery vehicle. For national freight, the items are securely packed to prevent damage during transit. The business operates with a high level of transparency, providing updates throughout the process so you know exactly when the drinks will turn up. This is not a faceless warehouse operation. Every order is handled by people who understand that a missed delivery means a thirsty crew and a drop in site morale.
Products and Weight Considerations
The Can Man carries a wide range of beverages, including domestic favourites and hard to find imports from the USA, UK, and Mexico. This includes energy drinks, soft drinks, and hydration options. It is important to note that slabs are heavy items. A standard 24 can slab weighs approximately 9 to 12 kilograms. When ordering for national freight, these weights are a primary factor in the shipping cost calculation. The Can Man provides real time shipping rates at checkout to ensure you are seeing the most accurate price based on the total weight of your order. Because the business specialises in bulk supply, most customers find that the savings on the slab price more than offset the cost of the freight.
Local Delivery: The Brisbane Shark Run
The local delivery service is the flagship of the business. The Can Man covers a massive 350km radius from the Brisbane CBD, reaching from the Gold Coast up to the Sunshine Coast and out to the Darling Downs. This service is designed to be a "handshake delivery" where the person dropping off the drinks is a part of The Can Man team.
Cold Chain Handling: Unlike a standard courier, the Shark is equipped for the Queensland heat. Drinks are packed cold and kept cold using eskies and ice. When they arrive at your site, they are ready to drink immediately.
The 8am Cutoff: To keep the schedule tight and ensure same day delivery, orders must be placed by 8am on weekdays. If you miss the cutoff, the order will be slotted into the next available run, usually the following business day.
Crew Rates and Free Delivery: The Can Man rewards bulk buyers. If your order total is $80 or more, the local delivery fee is waived. This is the gold standard for site managers who need to stock up on slabs for the week.
National Freight: Beyond the 350km Zone
For those outside the 350km South East Queensland radius, The Can Man uses a network of national couriers, primarily Australia Post or equivalent reliable partners. While the cold chain service is not available for national freight, the business takes extra care in packaging to ensure that the Turn Up Guarantee is still met.
Shipping Timelines: Most national orders are delivered within 2 to 5 business days. Remote areas or Western Australia may take slightly longer.
Tracking and Transparency: Every national order comes with a tracking link sent to your email or phone. You can watch the progress of your shipment from our cold room to your location.
PO Box Restrictions: Because slabs are heavy and bulky, they cannot be delivered to PO Boxes. A physical address is required for all freight orders to ensure the courier can complete the drop off safely.
Pricing and Rate Calculations
The Can Man aims to keep shipping costs as low as possible. For local orders, the flat rate is visible at checkout for orders under $80, while anything above that is free. For national orders, the rates are calculated based on your post code and the total weight of the cans in your cart. There are no hidden fees or surprise surcharges added after you pay. The price you see at the final step of the checkout is exactly what you pay. However, if you are in a particularly remote area that the standard courier network struggles to reach, The Can Man may contact you to discuss the best way to get the gear to you.
Trust and the Turn Up Guarantee
Shipping heavy liquids is a difficult job, but The Can Man is built for it. Every order is covered by the Turn Up Guarantee. This is a simple promise: your drinks arrive complete and undamaged, or we make it right. If a can is crushed or a slab is missing, you have 48 hours to let us know. Take a quick photo of the issue and send it through. The Can Man will either replace the stock on the next run or issue a refund for the damaged items. On local runs, this guarantee also covers the temperature. If your drinks don't arrive cold from the tray on a local Brisbane order, it is not up to standard. The Can Man values the long term relationship with site crews over a single sale, so solving problems quickly is the priority.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the delivery radius for local orders?
The Can Man services a 350km radius from the Brisbane CBD. This includes the majority of South East Queensland. If you are unsure if you are in the zone, the shipping calculator at checkout will automatically tell you if you qualify for the local Shark run or national freight.
When is the cutoff for same day delivery?
You must place your order by 8am on weekdays to get your drinks on the same day within the Brisbane local area. Orders placed after this time or on weekends will be processed and delivered on the next available business day.
How much do I need to spend for free delivery?
Local Brisbane orders of $80 or more qualify for free delivery. For national freight, shipping costs are calculated by weight, and the $80 free threshold does not apply due to the high cost of moving heavy slabs across state lines.
Can I get my drinks delivered if I am not home?
Yes. By default, all deliveries are marked as "Authority to Leave." Our drivers or couriers will look for a safe place to leave the goods. If you have a specific spot on a worksite or a hidden corner at your house, please leave a note in the order instructions.
Do you deliver to PO Boxes?
We can only deliver to physical addresses. Couriers will not accept 12kg slabs for PO Box delivery. Please provide a street address where someone (or a safe spot) can receive the goods.
What happens if my drinks arrive damaged?
This is covered by the Turn Up Guarantee. If your order arrives damaged or incomplete, contact The Can Man within 48 hours. Send a photo of the damage to our email or social media, and we will sort out a replacement or a refund immediately.
Are the drinks cold when they arrive?
For local Brisbane orders delivered by the Shark, yes. They are packed from the cold room into ice and eskies. For national freight sent via courier, the drinks will arrive at ambient temperature and will need to be chilled before consumption.
